Academic Projects
Below are a few academic projects I've had the chance to develop while working in the greater Pittsburgh area. These pieces showcase my ability to blend creativity with academic insights to produce engaging and effective designs.
Personal Logo Evolution
Over time, my personal logo has evolved alongside my growth as a designer. Initially, I embraced a bold, artistic approach, taking risks like using an extreme script font to convey creativity and flair. As I gained experience, I found myself gravitating toward minimalistic designs, which reflected my appreciation for clarity and precision. The shift to a more rigid, clean design felt aligned with my professional journey, but I soon realized it lacked the personal softness I wanted to convey. Most recently, I reintroduced a script font to reflect my affinity for beauty, while maintaining a minimalist structure to highlight my straightforward, transparent approach to design. This evolution showcases not only my design development but also my ability to balance aesthetics with functionality.
Academic logo and branding exploration for the ficticious company "Hipster Coffee".
This academic project focused on developing a full branding identity for the fictitious coffee shop, Hipster Coffee. The goal was to design a visually appealing logo and cohesive brand materials that reflect the café’s trendy, artisanal vibe.
As part of this branding project, I also created a wireframe mockup for Hipster Coffee’s website. The wireframe served as a blueprint for the site's layout, functionality, and user experience. Key elements included navigation, content placement, and call-to-action buttons. This exercise enhanced my ability to plan and structure web design projects, ensuring a seamless transition from concept to execution.

Academic logo and branding exploration for the ficticious company "Illume Cafe".
In this academic project, I developed a brand identity for Illume Cafe, a fictitious café concept. The goal was to create a visually striking and cohesive logo that communicated the warmth and inviting nature of the café. I explored various design elements such as color palettes, typography, and iconography to reflect the cozy yet modern vibe of the brand. Through this process, I refined my ability to create balanced, purposeful designs that align with a brand’s core values.

Academic logo and branding exploration for the ficticious company "Spilled Ink Media Co.".
For Spilled Ink Media Co., a fictitious media agency, this project challenged me to create a logo and branding identity that captured the dynamic, creative energy of the company. I experimented with different visual styles and typography to represent the company's mission to provide innovative media solutions. This project furthered my understanding of how to use design to tell a story and convey a company’s personality, emphasizing creativity and professionalism in the final branding.

Logo Submission for Media Project Management Course
For this project, we worked directly with a client to create a complete brand identity as part of my Media Project Management course. This experience allowed me to apply the branding principles I had learned in a real-world context, from initial concept development to final execution. I collaborated with the client to understand their vision and needs, creating a logo that represented their brand values. This project helped me refine my client communication skills and my ability to translate client feedback into cohesive, professional designs, giving me hands-on experience in brand development and project management.

Fear – Visual Concept for Assigned Word
For this college project, I was tasked with visually representing the word "Fear". I decided to take an unconventional approach by designing an image that resembled a Pac-Man arcade machine, symbolizing how fear can trap and consume us. The retro arcade aesthetic was intentionally chosen to evoke nostalgia and contrast with the underlying tension of the concept. This project allowed me to experiment with visual metaphors, illustrating how powerful and overwhelming fear can be, while pushing my creativity to translate abstract ideas into a compelling design.

Poster for Oldest Building on Campus
For this project, I designed a poster highlighting the oldest building on campus, aiming to capture its historical significance and architectural beauty. I used a mix of vintage and modern design elements to reflect the building’s timeless presence while appealing to contemporary design sensibilities. The challenge was to balance historical accuracy with creative expression, ensuring that the poster was both informative and visually compelling.

Website Design for The Back Alley
I, along with my classmates, designed a website for The Back Alley, a local business that ultimately did not launch the site. The project involved close collaboration with the client to understand their vision and requirements. We focused on creating a user-friendly, visually engaging design that reflected the brand’s identity. Although the site did not go live, the project provided valuable experience in client communication, understanding project goals, and adapting designs based on feedback.

Website Design for Tier III
For Tier III, a business still active today, I designed a fully functional website that reflects the brand's professional and modern image. Working directly with the client, I created a user-friendly, responsive design that catered to their target audience. The website emphasizes simplicity and functionality, offering an intuitive experience across devices. By collaborating closely with the client, I ensured the design aligned with their business goals and vision. You can view the live website at llctieriii.wixsite.com/tier3. This project helped me refine my skills in creating engaging, accessible websites while balancing both aesthetics and user needs.
